SAVE A TREE / ADOPT A TREE

Now that the trail system is established around the camp, we can see the significant number of dead trees on the property. I believe these trees are being choked out by the briars and grapevines that grow up into the trees and eventually pull them down. You can see from the pictures I have added to this post, the damage briars and grapevine can do.

If every camper would adopt a tree, clear the briars and grapevines around and in your tree, this would go a long way to prevent the untimely death of the tree and ensure future generations continue to enjoy Camp Burnett. We have well over a thousand campers use Camp Burnett every year, if each camper adopted a tree that would make a significant improvement to the camp.

THREE REQUESTS:

  1. Please burn what you cut out of the trees

  2. If you want to want to put a tag with your name / group number and date on the tree that will be great. Dog Tags you get at Pet Smart would work great for this.

  3. USE CAUTION: We have an abundance of Copperhead snakes and at certain times of the year they tend to be found at the base of trees. Clear the base of the tree before you start to work. Look where you are putting your hands, what looks like a stick might be a snake.
